What does a fractional laser treatment mean?  Fractional means that the laser delivers light energy to small columns of the skin while leaving the rest of the skin intact.  These microcolumns allow the skin to repair itself by replacing older, sun-damaged skin with newer, more youthful and healthier skin.  Because there are areas of intact skin left untouched, the healing time is improved and downtime is minimal.

The Cynosure ICON 1540 Fractional laser is a great treatment for anyone who wants to improve skin texture, tightness and/or minimize sun damage.  It can treat light or dark skin types easily. It is more powerful than other lasers of its kind, delivering greater energy per micro-beam and greater depth of penetration than similar devices.  This allows for more effective and longer lasting results.

The treatments take only 20 to 30 minutes.  A series of 3 to 5 treatments, spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart.  During the first 24 hours, the skin may be slightly pink and swollen but you can return to your usual activities immediately.  However, it is recommended that you minimize sun exposure during the week after treatment and always wear sunblock!
