In skin care, growth factors are mentioned frequently, but what are they?
Epidermal growth factors are comprised of 53 amino acids. These amino acids promote cell growth, cellular differentiation and proliferation. There are multiple different growth factors, each with their own functions. TGF-b is one growth factor we concern ourselves with due to its stimulation of collagen production, promotion of synthesis of extracellular proteins and inhibition of matrix degradation, also known as, thinning of your skin. Here at Essex we like to think of growth factors as “food for your cells”. By transdermally delivering these complexes to your dermal layer, your cells will have all the nutrients they need to continue production, differentiation, and proliferation thus promoting healthy skin and collagen production.
