FAQ’s

Where are Dermal Fillers used?

Dermal fillers are effective in smoothing the lines around the nose and mouth sometimes referred to as smile lines or nasolabial folds. They can add volume to the cheek and midface as well as enhance lips instantly and smooth fine lines around the mouth..

When are the results of Dermal Fillers seen?

The effects are seen immediately after treatment with hyaluronic acid fillers or Radiesse. The results may be slightly exaggerated for the first few days but the final results will be noticeable by two weeks after treatment with hyaluronic acid fillers or about four to eight weeks with Radiesse.

How long do Dermal Fillers last?

The results will vary depending on an individual’s skin structure, lifestyle, and age as well as the degree of perfection desired. For the majority of patients, the effects will last for 12 months or longer with hyaluronic acid fillers and closer to 18 months with Radiesse.

Who is a good candidate for Dermal Fillers?

The risk of complications is very low so almost anyone who would like to soften facial lines or enhance lip borders can receive treatment with dermal fillers.

What is the procedure like?

The procedure takes only 30 to 40 minutes. If anesthesia is necessary, it can be easily achieved with a topical anesthetic or a local anesthetic placed by the doctor. Most fillers have lidocaine mixed in to minimize any discomfort.

Is there any downtime?

Downtime is minimal. It is recommended to avoid exercise for 12 hours after treatment.

Are there any side effects of the treatment?

There may be some mild swelling and redness in the area of treatment. This is a normal result of the injection and generally resolves in 72 hours. Mild bruising may also be seen. Other reactions are very uncommon. These include transient but more intense redness, swelling, or tenderness at the site of injection and is seen in only 1 out of every 200 patients treated. This rare reaction typically resolves after a few weeks.
