Are those jowls or double chin becoming more noticeable each day?  Want to avoid surgery? There are now many great options to improve your profile without surgery. Aging and gravity lead to skin laxity and undesirable effects on our facial features but we can use one or more combinations of treatments to get amazing results without surgery.

Laser such as the Titan laser uses infrared technology provides deep dermal heating to improve collagen production.  It works well for all skin types and requires little to no downtime. It works in conjunction with other treatments including Botox, Kybella, and the Vampire Facelift. Typically a series of 3 treatments are required.

Kybella is a great option for fullness under the chin.  This is an injectable which will reduce fat cells under the chin.  In contrast to the Titan laser, there is swelling after the treatment.  This is more so with the first treatment, but still present after 2nd and 3rd treatments.  Because it works by melting away fat cells, it will sharpen the jawline.  However, it does not address skin laxity. Loose skin under the chin or on the neck area is better treated with the Titan laser, sometimes in combination with fractional CO2 lasers.  In fact, Kybella can worsen the appearance of loose skin so it is important for your skincare provider to determine on a case by case basis if this is an appropriate option to improve the facial profile.

The Vampire Facelift is a novel way to get some immediate results from dermal fillers as well as increasing native collagen production to correct volume loss and provide a lifting effect.  This can be used to improve facial definition. It involved the use of PRP, or platelet-rich plasma, which is obtained from your own blood. This PRP is a natural way to improve collagen production and enhance the results obtained with dermal fillers.  Although most people are candidates for this treatment there are few things that need to be avoided prior to this treatment, in particular, antiinflammatories. Results from the dermal filler are more immediate, whereas the final results from PRP are seen 1 to 3 months after treatment.  There is minimal downtime with this treatment and it provides a very natural look. Volume is added to the face in areas where there has been a decrease in collagen.  Color, shape and texture of your skin are improved.  Fine lines and wrinkles are softened.

It will diminish the heavy jowls along the jawline and add definition to your facial profile.  It will soften those prominent thin columns of skin, referred to as platysmal banding, that become visible with facial expression and sometimes even at rest as we age.  It is a nice, easy and inexpensive way to add a lift and softening of lines on the neck. It can work well in conjunction with all the other treatments previously mentioned here.

The correct combination of treatment is different for each person.  Be sure to speak with your skincare provider about all the options available so you can get the best improvement in your facial profile.  All of these treatments are great alternatives to surgery when used appropriately.
